beginnings

I stood there in the twilight watching the stars appear in the sky. Each one a burst of light coming into view slowly. As I look back I find I cherish those moments before it all began when everything had a simple answer.
"You coming Aerim, or you going to stand there all night?" Seri, my brother, asked racing down the path towards home.
"I'll be there in a minute I'm just admiring the stars." I shout after him. Still staring at the sky the moon slowly rises over the hilltops like a giant mirror reflecting the light down to us. Then the feeling hit me again, the feeling of fear, the stars could see what I could not for they knew the changes that would take place here. I break away from the stars and trek down the hillside through the large stone village gate. The guards locked the gate behind me.
"Not a moment too soon sis." Seri called out to me from the bench by the fountain. He got up and fell into step beside me glaring at the ground. "They still screaming at you?" He asked the fear in his voice noticeble as he dropped his voice to a whisper by the end.
"Yes, but I still don't know why." I murmer back to him walking through the door to our home I set the bag I was carrying down on the table and turned to see my adoptive mother, Eolia, looking up at me concern on her face.
